I was never really one for having lots and lots of fresh flowers around the house. Not until last year. I'm not really sure why but last year I just wanted flowers around. So I regularly bought flowers and replaced old ones when they were past their prime. Sometimes I'd grab a couple of cheap but cheerful supermarket bunches. Other times I'd grab some from local roadside stalls.
This year I haven't been doing that as often - and the replacing of the old ones was definitely not happening as often as it needed to be. So slack (so busy.)
Every day when I drive home from work, I pass a wattle tree with branches over-hanging the road. And every day as I drive past, I'd think to myself - I really should go and grab some of that before someone decides to clip it into shape and do something silly with the cuttings, like burn them (instead of, say, putting them in vases in your house.)
So I did. And I'll do it again if I have to. After all it's not just for making my house pretty - it's for the safety of people driving on the road. Yes. That's it.
Are you a flower forager? Do you get the guilts when you do it?
