Last week I attended a bit of a special event in my home town. This lovely lady organised a night market at Bruce's on Tuesday evening and I was chuffed to be involved. I used to do some market photography a few years ago and I realised on Tuesday night exactly how much I have missed doing this type of work. It's a great way to get to see a lot of people and to be inspired by everyone's creativity. And, of course, to take photos!
It takes quite a bit for the locals around here to get out and about - especially at night and especially on a weeknight. So it was a bit gobsmacking to see cars lined all along the highway outside Bruce's - Wynyard doesn't usually see that type of traffic unless it's either the Tulip Festival or the Christmas parade. And, like the Christmas parade (which is always held on Christmas Eve), I got to catch up with a whole bunch of people I wouldn't normally see during the year at this market. The atmosphere was fabulous. Bruce's catered food and drinks were available to purchase. There was a variety of stallholders on the night, which was great to see. From all reports, it was a huge success and I think it's fair to say that everyone is hoping it can be repeated in the future.
I've got an album with a few more shots on FB, too. You can see it here if you like.
On the school-related front - we finish up early in the week, so I'll be a free woman by Wednesday. It's been a great year and I'm so appreciative of the opportunities I've been given, but it would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to having the school year over with! Lots to do, lots to keep busy with, lots to plan and organise - but it's all good stuff.
Hope you've had a great week and a great weekend, too!
