So I've basically been whinging to anyone who'll listen about this stupid (S.T.U.P.I.D.) summer flu that I've managed to catch. It has knocked me for a six. It probably serves me right because even though I went on leave just before the end of the school year, I haven't actually stopped for a break. I've been doing heaps of photography work (which I'm so, so chuffed about), there was Christmas and New Year (of course), getting Seedsmiths up and going, and then finally last week my body said, "Nuh-uh, that's enough!" So I kind of had to listen and pull the brakes a tad. Sheesh. I've been getting by on chicken noodle soup (I'd love to say I made it myself but I'm crook for goodness sake!) and honey on English muffins. And it's probably the only time (apart from when I'm working) that I've been a good girl about drinking lots of water (something-something-old-dogs-new-tricks, etc.)
By the way - if you get the flu and want to pimp out your average tin of chicken noodle soup make sure you add a whole red chilli (can't be stuffed chopping the thing when sick, so just split it down the middle), some lime juice, a splash of soy sauce, scissor in some spring onion (again, too lazy for chopping) and some garlic and ginger (mincing it in is easier than chopping, but go the chop if you like, I won't hold it against you.) It's not as good as making your own, but it's not a bad substitute either.
The shots above are a bit of a sneak-peek from the wedding I photographed earlier in January. I'll be posting the rest later in the month. I'm looking forward to sharing them - it was an awesome (and hot!) day.
We're going full steam ahead with Seedsmiths - if you're interested, you can check out a couple of courses that are being organised already here. And, if you're a local and are interested in teaching something with us, please read all about the process here - we're offering a 25% discount on admin fees up until the end of February, so get onto it! UPDATE: A very very large thank you to Bruce's for agreeing to be the venue for February's Book Club - you're more than a bit awesome in my book (see what I did there?)
And I know I've mentioned it before, but I'll be taking photos at this event on the 31st of January - come and check it out on the day, Produce to the People do wonderful stuff in our community and it's awesome to be able to support them.
Have you ever had a summer flu? What tricks do you have for getting through it?
