I think Stanley might just be my favourite place on earth. I've been visiting since I was little and every single time I go there I feel a connection to it. That's not an unusual or special feeling really, pretty much everyone who goes to Stanley feels that way. I'm yet to meet someone who hasn't said to me, "Oh I love it there!" when you tell them you've been.
So many people say that Australia is lacking in history. Of course, it isn't. And I don't just mean places like Stanley where you see our colonial history - I've always felt keenly when I visit these kinds of rugged places (Rocky Cape is another example) where our Indigenous history is also very definitely present. Full of ghosties and spirits and whatnot if you ask me. Just the way I like it.
Have you been to Stanley before? What was your favourite part?
Later in the week I'll have a couple of posts from Highfield House. Make sure you check back for those.
