I noticed a distinct change in the light today. We're definitely making the move from winter to spring. It's been slowly but surely creeping up on us. Lately, the afternoons have been lighter (isn't it nice when it's not pitch dark at 6PM anymore?) I also spotted some grape hyacinths that have popped up in my garden during the week. They do so right at the very beginning of the change of season each year and then promptly disappear. Cute little things they are.
It was the change in the light that reminded me of a visit last year in spring to Villarett Gardens. I hadn't been there before and it was a pretty place to have a look around. I particularly loved the way the sun broke through shady spots. That play between light and shade is wonderful. I never really feel like I've effectively captured it, but I'll always enjoy trying to.
