Tasmanian summers have a particular light. It's bright, strong, almost blinding and if you're not careful can smack you around a little. It tends to (very much) make up for our cold winters. Although, to be honest, our cold winters aren't all that cold really. I figure if it doesn't snow, it's not that cold. But that's just me.
Back to summer though. Those of us used to the harshness of a Tasmanian summer sun know all about the benefits and necessity of slip, slop and slapping when heading outdoors. Our counterparts on the mainland often get caught short - and so do we, spending a day or more afterwards with bright red patches glowing on our skin.
It was this kind of Tasmanian summer weekend when I got to spend some time with the Davis family, celebrating Sage's 2nd birthday. A year ago I was so pleased when Anna asked if I'd photograph Sage's 1st birthday and I was even more chuffed when she asked if I'd join them this year. I have loved comparing the photos I took and seeing how much this little lady has grown. She's as cute as a button (you don't need me to tell you that, you can see it for yourselves) and such a fun character to boot. This kid is just awesome to take photos of. That's all there is to it.
A huge, huge thank you to Si and Anna for entrusting me with the job of capturing a special day for your daughter. Thanks to Sage for being so much fun to hang around. All the best to you guys for 2014.
