I feel it only fair to warn you that the following post contains a lot of photos. A plethora of photos, you might say. They're from my jaunt to Ulverstone on Sunday to the Cradle Coast Farmers' Market. It's on each week at the waterfront re-development. You can find more information via their Facebook page and their website.
And, yes - those are pigs' bums up there, courtesy of the Mt Gnomon Farm stall. Such a flattering angle for the little piggies. Had me giggling all morning!
If you haven't been yet, I can thoroughly recommend it - it was lovely having a wander around and a chat to the producers. I learnt a lot and got to taste some delicious food. Which is pretty much what heaven must be like?
It's been over a year since I did any market photography and I didn't realise quite how much I'd missed it until I started wandering around the stalls. It combines lots of things I quite like. People watching. Nattering to strangers about the weather. Chatting with people who are passionate about the produce they ... er, produce. Talking about food, looking at food, photographing food (it's all making me hungry.) Listening to music (I don't know the name of the busker from Sunday's market but there was a very funny moment when, mid-song his mobile phone rang.) The fish balloons made for some very happy kidlets, and another entertaining moment when one of the balloons made a break for it, becoming a flying fish! That's not something you see every day.
It was a lovely, jolly, sunny place to be (not just in weather terms - in people terms) and I'm so glad I went. It's a very friendly market indeed. You must go and find out for yourself - trust me on this one.
Thanks Penelope, for letting me come along and go nuts with my camera. I loved it!
