When chatting with clients about their photography needs, one of the very first questions I ask is: "What do you want to do with your photos?" I want to know whether they're looking for digital files and/or prints, wall art, albums, etc. In the not too distant past, I used to provide digital files on a USB and that was it. Since then I've changed my business model significantly and now offer tangible products for all Look See wedding couples. I so strongly believe in the importance of giving my all my wedding clients access to the highest quality prints and albums. However, sometimes couples who want to buy these kinds of products are unable to afford them, we all know quality doesn't come cheap - couples planning a wedding already have significant expenses to deal with. So ... how do you actually make high quality prints and albums (the kinds that last not just for 30 years but 100 years or more) accessible to everyone who values and wants them?
The answer lies in a service called Album Registry - it's essentially a gift registry specifically for photography services. It's mostly utilised by wedding clients, whose photographer can set them up a registry for an album. A link to their album registry is distributed to guests, who can then contribute towards the overall cost of the wedding album. Some couples use it in conjunction with a wishing well or other kind of gift registry, but many who aren't going on a honeymoon, or who don't need items to "set up house" use it purely for an album. If the photographer offers other print products, the costs of those can be included as can the overall cost of the wedding photography if need be. The other brilliant thing about Album Registry is that friends + family interstate and overseas can contribute as well, so if they can't attend the wedding itself, they still get to be a part of it (their contribution is acknowledged at the back of the album) and they can give a gift they know the couple will love.
Here's a quick introductory video you can watch to get the jist of how it works:
I'll be offering all wedding clients from now on the option of using Album Registry in the hopes that it provides much more equal access to their photography package and/or high quality prints and/or albums for all couples who want them.
Also! If you're a past Look See wedding client think this could be up your alley, please get in touch - if you do so by 30th September, 2017 I'll provide a 10% discount on an album for you, using Album Registry to cover the remaining costs. Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org to chat about it.
