This time last week, mum and I took the opportunity to have a bit of a road trip together, we hadn't been on one of our "photography excursions" in a while and had the chance while I was waiting for my car to be serviced during the day. The idea was to go for a drive somewhere, stop and take photos as much as we pleased, and then have lunch at Ghost Rock vineyard (because we hadn't been there in ages and thought, "why not"?) We drove around Forth and Don, down to Don Heads and meandered our way through the area, looking at all the old houses and whatnot. We could definitely see some of the damage from this winter's flooding - some spots really were in a mess.
We had the lunch platter at Ghost Rock, which was huge! And delicious! We figured we did it fairly good justice. There were a couple of older ladies who were at the table behind us, one of whom was celebrating her birthday. The kitchen sent out a dessert for her and everyone sang 'Happy Birthday'. It was a bit cute. They have a shiny new coffee machine, we were only too willing to help test her out. Thumbs up from both of us - a very decent flat white was had indeed.
Our next "photography excursion" is already planned, we're heading to the Cherry Blossom Celebration at the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden in early October. It's been a few years now since I've seen the gardens there in spring and I'm so looking forward to it - you really have to see it if you can (you can see some photos from an autumn visit here, which also contains a link to the first set of spring photos I took there.) Also, I don't know about you but I'm exceptionally ready for winter to be over! C'mon spring, you can do it!
