Family lifestyle photography tends to focus (pardon the pun) on capturing you all just as you are, just at that moment. Sometimes this is a session at home, but not always. That might mean heading outside, perhaps taking a stroll somewhere; the beach, the park or a reserve. This is a great idea during summer when the weather is usually at its best! Which is exactly what Sarah, Dan, Joe and I did last week by catching up together at Fernglade Reserve, Burnie, Tasmania.
Fernglade is pretty famous locally for the beautiful man ferns and for the platypus. If you're lucky you might get to see a platypus or two when you visit, but it needs to be the right time of day and it needs to be relatively quiet, they're shy little things after all. On our visit, there were a few other people with the same idea as us, families strolling along the walkway enjoying a warm summer's morning. Maybe that's why we didn't see any platypus? Or maybe they were sleeping in, I mean, I don't judge them if they were, it's the holidays, they should take the opportunity if they get the chance.
It was so very awesome to have a session like this with these guys; this time last year I got to hang out with them at their "sorry we eloped" party - Joe was there as well, just in a different way! He was an absolute trooper for us, even though he was a little bit tired and a little bit hungry and a little bit distracted from being tired and hungry by watching some of the other little kids out with their families! This kid and those squishable cheeks tho! Not to mention that adorable freckle on the sole of his foot. Turns out a few of us have that in common (freckle, not cheeks!)
Many many thanks Sarah, Dan and Joe for spending some time with me and for just being your fabulous selves!
