On the weekend I got to spend some time with the Wells family. We had a bit of an explore of the reserve at Fernglade, wandering along the walking track, keeping an eye out for platypus in the creek and wallabies in the bush. We saw a couple of wallabies but we were thinking the platypus may have been having a rest. They work hard those platypus, they've earned it. We threw some rocks in the creek for good measure - remember doing that as a kid? How satisfying is that "plonk" and "splash" sound? Very satisfying indeed.
I'm a big fan of Fernglade - the walking track is pretty easy and there's lots to look at as you go. That dappled sunshine and shade is just beautiful as well. We were lucky to have a sunny morning with blue skies - the bushfires lately have been shrouding us with smoke and this was one of the few clear days of the summer holidays.
The biggest of thankyous to Hollie, Keegan, Hazel and Flynn for inviting me to hang out with you guys - I had lots of fun with you all. Let me know if you see any platypus and wallabies on your next visit to the reserve!
